This image is from a sunset shoot at Capitol Reef National Park in 2021 on one of the last nights I was there with my NxNW friends. The forecast looked promising for an epic sunset, but the two hours leading up to this moment had us doubting the weather prognosticators. The clouds behind us seemed more likely to block out the sun completely than to allow it to put on a light show. But as you can see, our doubts were unfounded. Not only were we dazzled by the light show, we became part of it as the alpenglow engulfed us.
